I feel like baking but I have no sugar
a life devoid of sweetness.
Only the soft fluffy flakes of sucralose
(a poor imitation of true love)
are left to sustain me.
Cupcakes, tiny and tender --
two bites of frosted heaven --
would satisfy so many urges.
But I have only sugarplum dreams
and candy-coated nightmares.
Chocolate chip or M&M --
sugared sprinkles, powdered glazes.
A feast for my eyes
and my tongue.
But an empty bowl leaves me with only
this sweet lament.
